You should pity czars. Things never end well for them.
The reign of diversity czars began a few years ago when a jury found that a violent drug-addled Black criminal was murdered by an idiotic white police officer ostensibly trying to subdue him.
This rarely happens, thankfully. In fact, more cops get murdered by Black criminals than the other way around. And when Black criminals do get murdered by cops, the cops are usually Black themselves (though the left would say cops are never Black even if their skin color is black because, after all, cops promote white justice and not Black Justice).
Anyway, the establishment decided they had to make a show of their opposition to Black people getting murdered by white cops, even if it hardly ever happens. This little minstrel show was called Black Lives Matter. Corporations gave millions to a few Black people to whom Black Lives Matter mattered a lot, moneywise.
To date, corporations have not made a show of their opposition to Black people getting murdered by other Black people – something that happens a dozen times in a weekend.
In Chicago alone.
For a while, the diversity czars had it good. Really good. I’m talking seminars, Bud Light, corporate jets, caviar, executive suites, chardonnay. They didn’t have a job in the sense of producing anything for the organization. Their “job” was instead to make the corporation look more like them.
The word “look” in this context should be taken literally. The goal was not diversity in thoughts, but diversity in looks. The diversity czars were supposed to get more people on the payroll with the skin color of the diversity czars. That meant more POCs.
But only POs of the right C. Asians didn’t count. In fact, Asians were deemed PNOCs, or People Not Of Color, who masqueraded around inscrutably in pigmented skin, flaunting their merit.
To accomplish their remaking of the organization, the diversity czars utilized the currency of the realm, namely currency. They used money that would otherwise have gone to the bottom line as corporate profits benefiting shareholders to whom the corporation owed fiduciary duties.
You might ask, where did diversity czars get all this power?
The answer is, the czars were invested with moral authority. They doubled as popes overseeing the new religion of diversity.
Like all popes, they were deemed infallible. The bosses had to defer and kowtow to these diversity czar-popes, else risk their wrath. If you dared to cross them, you were both racist and blasphemous. The company inquisition would out you and cancel you. You wouldn’t get burned at the stake, but you would indeed get fired at the company.
This silliness went on for a few years during the Weird Times we call COVID where money grew on the debt-incurring money trees of Democratic printing presses regardless of whether anyone worked to earn it, for repayment by people we apparently don’t care a fig about such as our children and grandchildren.
Ah, but it turns out that subordinating the organization’s goals – profit in the case of corporations – to the (im)moral whims of diversity czars was bad for those goals. Notwithstanding happy talk of how skin color diversity made us stronger, in the real world it didn’t. What makes us stronger is strength. Strength is achieved not by skin color, but by work, by devotion, by integrity, by merit.
The Wall Street Journal last week reported that with the passing of the Weird Times, the time of the diversity czars may also be passing, at least in the corporate executive suites. Corporations have learned that the best way to achieve the corporate goal of making money is to have employees possessing the merit to accomplish that goal. (In the old days when educational institutions offered an education, they might have taught this in business school.)
Skin of the right color is nice, but for a money-making organization it’s no substitute for making money.
A non-money-making institution has also weighed in, namely the Supreme Court. The Court last month said that discriminating for or against people on the basis of their skin color is a violation of the Constitutional prohibitions on discriminating for or against people on the basis of their skin color.
The three dissenting liberals on the Court disbelieve this. Liberals not only disbelieve that 2 + 2 = 4. They also disbelieve that 2 = 2 and 4 = 4.
But the (il)liberals lost in the Supreme Court and in the court of public opinion. Racial discrimination might be good for the memory of that murdered Black druggie, but it’s bad for business and illegal to boot.
Maybe the diversity czars and those three dissenting Supreme Court Justices should learn computer programming. But, alas, that would require them to believe in math and science.
My book “High Attitude – How Woke Liberals Ruined Aspen” is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Why capitalize Black but not white?? Time to end that too.
The literal answer to your question is that the writing style guides say so.
As a white person, I personally have never felt much need for a big “W”. If Black people need a big “B” that’s fine by me.
It’s stupid & makes no sense. Why intentionally do something stupid if you don’t have to?
You ask, “Why intentionally do something stupid if you don’t have to?”
The answer is…
Because as a white person, I personally have never felt much need for a big “W”. If Black people need a big “B” that’s fine by me.
Personally, I think the big “B” is a bit condescending to Blacks, and if I were a Black person I would not want it. But I’m not a Black person, and they are. I’ll judge their destructive culture, but I won’t judge the harmless names they choose for their race and their children.
Regarding George Floyd, perhaps if he’d drowned in his drug-induced lung fluids at the store he attempted to pass off a fake $20 bill, in back of a squad car, in ambulance, at hospital, or even at home, what a different world this would be today. However, beneath the knee of Derek Chauvin, a officer who should have been terminated long before, crap hit the fan, the results still seen down in Minneapolis.
In that case, his death would have been counted as another COVID mortality.
No tolerance for free speech for Bernell Trammell: Black Trump supporter killed in Milwaukee.. after Doxxing allowed by Twitter.
-2- George Floyd died from covid… per CDC rules.. Floyd died of a self-induced fentanyl & meth / drug overdose.
Actually Floyd DID die of an overdose. The transcript of the entire police interaction with Mr. Floyd showed he was clearly in medical distress long before Officer Chauvin applied the infamous knee hold (which is legal and approved by police departments across the nation because it is applied to the side of the neck and in no way impedes airflow/breathing). The original autopsy showed the lethal levels of fentanyl in his system (approximately 4x the lethal amount) along with other illegal drugs. The ‘other’ autopsy was ordered by FLoyd’s family and was intended to support a specific narrative. Floyd (a very large man) had a hard time getting into the rear of the squad car so officers allowed him to cross the street and lie down (under his own power) while he was waiting for the ambulance the officers requested to arrive. Fully 5 minutes before the picture was taken Floyd was complaining “I can’t breathe”, prompting the call for medical assistance. In every way the police treated Floyd professionally and compassionately. I fault Chouvin for apply that hold to a man who was not a flight risk, and was likely unconscious at the time the photo was taken. Restraints of almost any kind were unnecessary and Chauvin should have been reprimanded for using that hold as it was completely unnecessary under the circumstances.
But in no way, shape, or form was Floyd “murdered” by police.
After corporations show their diversity czars the door, next up for a good mucking out should be HR departments.
HR departments should be trimmed back to their core functions. They could be reduced by at least 75% & the companies would be better off.
The irony of the grievance industrial complex is that it can only thrive in a time of affluence. Then that affluence wanes, so will the DIE mania.
Another winning essay, thanks!
Mostly peaceful BLM rioters killed black St. Louis police captain David Dorn, black federal officers were murdered in Oakland, Ca., then black firefighter KB Balla & his wife were devastated after mostly peaceful arsonists destroyed their bar (no insurance he said)..
Wow Glenn, let it never be said that you are shy about saying it like it is, and or was in this case. And saying it very well. On a subject related to that of Diversity Czars, there are similar cottage industries that have solidified around homeless people. One of the many hired to help was (is?) earning $600,000 per year in San Francisco. The boots on the ground helpers of course earned very very little. And of course we have the Diversity Czars or whatever they call themselves (Deans of Equity?), that now oversee entire diversity departments now prevalent in our universities. Ask not why college costs have gone up many times the rate of inflation over the last few decades. Which also of course heavily contributed to the student loan fiasco. On and on the Leftists go, corrupting, damaging or destroying everything they touch.
Glenn, George Floyd’s official toxicology report, prepared by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, showed intoxication with Fentanyl and Methamphetamine; The cause of death was given as “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.”, which is consistent with the police officers claim that Floyd was in a state of excited delerium. People suffering cardiopulmonary arrest can’t breathe.
The police officers had immediately called for emergency medical care (repeatedly), but more that 15 minutes later, when George Floyd died, no medical care had even been dispatched. Long after, Floyd’s family hired a professor at the University of Colorado to review the results (Vik Bebarta), who separately concluded that Floyd died from neck compression.
George Floyd could have shot himself in the head and the press would have crucified the police officers who responded if they were White.
A reader reports that he tried to post this comment but was unsuccessful. Here it is, in it’s entirely. Glenn
I submitted the following at your own site. Doesn’t show up, so I did it a second time after supposedly logging in at WordPress. Again, no show. I think it’d be worth having it appear there one time, but I won’t try again:
George Floyd wasn’t murdered, and his death wasn’t a homicide at all. For despite what Officer Chauvin’s terrified jury hastily decided in April 2021, Floyd actually died of a self-administered fentanyl overdose (perhaps exacerbated by the stress of resisting arrest and struggling against confinement in the police car).
This has been public knowledge at least since late August 2020 — and it was clear to the Hennepin County Attorney and the Medical Examiner by June 1, 2020.
Floyd was already complaining “I can’t breathe!” — multiple times — while standing up. (You can confirm by watching the police bodycam videos.) And he chose to lie on the ground; he wasn’t forced down.
At autopsy, his lungs weighed two to three times what they should have because they were filled with fluid, a consequence of the fentanyl. Which is why he couldn’t breathe. The detaining cops also noted foam on Floyd’s lips, consistent with the fentanyl overdose (according to the medical examiner, more than three times a typically lethal dose).
The cops called for an ambulance for Floyd twice during the ordeal. The first time was after Floyd nicked his head on a door while they were trying to get him to sit in a squad car. The second call, with stepped-up priority, was made while Floyd was lying on the ground and visibly deteriorating.
Further, the cops were following the detention procedures they’d been trained to apply in situations like this. These include the side-of-the-neck restraint — just to keep Floyd from rising — that Officer Chauvin performed with his knee. No brutality was involved. Nor suffocation, except for the self-induced suffocation attendant to fluid-filled lungs.
Those four cops are the victims, not Floyd, who was a dead man walking.
This is all covered in former federal and state prosecutor George Parry’s three articles from August 2020:
– “Who Killed George Floyd?” [August 6] https://spectator.org/george-floyd-death-toxicology-report/
– “Chauvin, Lane, Kueng, and Thao: The George Floyd Fall Guys” [August 12] https://spectator.org/george-floyd-police-training-minneapolis/
– “Minnesota v. Derek Chauvin et al: The Prosecution’s Dirty Little Secret” [August 26] https://spectator.org/minnesota-v-derek-chauvin-et-al-the-prosecutions-dirty-little-secret/
Chauvin’s attorney failed to lay out the clear picture of what had actually happened, evident in the three Parry articles. Plus the jury included at least one individual who, ab initio, was intent on convicting Chauvin.* Altogether, they paid no attention to the evidence or to the stricture of “beyond a reasonable doubt,” instead spending their scant few hours of “deliberation” browbeating the lone juror who would have been a holdout.
The injustice to the four cops is horrific. If an honest history of our times is ever written — no sure thing! — the railroading of Chauvin and the other three cops will be recognized as America’s equivalent of the Dreyfus affair.
* Another tell for the inadequacy of Chauvin’s jury is that they convicted Chauvin on all three counts — 2nd-degree murder, 3rd-degree murder, and manslaughter. Not only are any convictions beyond one superfluous, they’re manifestly illogical: How could a single death support three convictions on the specific question of that death?
I was the source for the lengthy comment just above. Thanks to Glenn for posting it after my two attempts failed.
Thank you both. “Minnesota nice” has evolved into “Minnesota stupid.”
Actually the acronym DEI is actually BiC as in Bigot in Charge
Pope Francis is diversity czar first, pope (“Vicar of Christ”) second. He IS the “moral authority” for the World Economic Forum and Masonic New World Order. Happily, traditionally Catholic nations such as Hungary and Italy are throwing off that authority. France may be next.
So now the race hustlers will have to find a new gig? Good as their efforts are a waste of breathing and digestion. Possibly, and I mean possibly, sanity has reared up in these corporations?
No they’ve got plenty of mileage left in this gig.
