Hillary Clinton – remember her? – appeared for a friendly interview this week with one of the adoring lefty media people.

Hil lamented the fact that Donald Trump has a constituency that would charge through fire with him. (Whether Trump would lead that charge from the front or from behind is a topic for another column.)

Joe Biden’s constituency, in contrast, is of a different type. They wouldn’t follow him to the ice cream stand, and they certainly wouldn’t let their daughters do so. Most of them don’t even want him to run for re-election.

If you’re a Democrat, this is a problem. Unenthusiastic voters don’t vote.

Is the solution to this problem that Joe should bow out of the race, as his constituency urges, to let someone younger, more cognitive, less senile, less corrupt, who can speak intelligibly, take the reins? Or is the solution that Biden himself should start acting younger, more cognitive, less senile, less corrupt and start speaking intelligibly? Is it that he should stop sniffing little girls’ hair? Should he stop showering with his daughter when she was little?

No, no, no, and no. (Well, on the last one it might be a maybe. Aren’t pedophiles now part of the privileged alphabet class so long as they’re not priests?)

Here’s where Hillary’s wisdom guides us. This isn’t a problem with Biden and his unenthusiastic “supporters,” she explains. It’s a problem with Trump and his enthusiastic ones.

No president or presidential hopeful has had such enthusiastic supporters since that athletic supporter under her husband’s desk in the Oval Office. He didn’t deserve such supporters and neither does Trump and neither does any other man.

(By the way, Hil is completely over the Monica thing. Hil and Bill are still married and sleep in separate bedrooms and/or cities, so they’re getting along just as a 70-something married not-couple should. Never mind that in their case, their separate bedrooms/cities/lives go back half a century in the past and for eternity in the future notwithstanding that death does them part.)

So, what to do about Trump and these people who support him in no manner at all except the one that matters to Hil – politically?

She says they’re a “cult.” What do you do with members of a cult?

You send them to Jonestown to drink cyanide-laced Kool-Aid, right?

No. The people in Jonestown were Democrats, almost to a person. Republicans would have been drinking Single Malts and smoking cigars (just smoking them, mind you) and never would have drunk themselves to death. The place for Republican self-annihilation is not under the Resolute Desk, but in the public spectacle of the House of Representatives.

Hil says the Trump supporters should instead be “deprogrammed.” It should be done “formally,” she says. She says Trump supporters should be “formally deprogrammed.” She used to think you were merely deplorable. Now she thinks you’re insane.

There’s precedent for this. The Soviet Union sent dissidents to mental hospitals for “formal deprogramming.” Dissenting from Communist rule, you see, was unequivocal evidence of a person’s insanity.

We could call Hil’s facilities the “Deprogramming Archipelago.”

This all sounds drastic, but it’s really a kindness to the patient. In the protected and inescapable grounds of the mental hospital, the patients can receive “formal deprogramming” with the aid of medicine such as electroshock treatment. It will make the person happy, in the sense that he hasn’t been sent to a labor camp. Yet. (Arbeit macht frei.)

Bear in mind that Hil is a person who still complains that she was robbed of a presidential election seven years ago by “Russian collusion” and claimed that she was named after an unknown New Zealand climber named Edmund Hillary when her parents had the prescience to know he would be the first to summit Mt. Everest six years later.

There’s a nut in the house alright, but it’s not you or me.
