The Mossad is the feared Israeli intelligence and espionage service established upon the creation of Israel in 1949. The Mossad is effective and efficient.
Along with collecting intelligence, the Mossad from its outset has carried out “targeted killings.” They eschew the word “assassination” because that implies murder. They say their killings are in self-defense because their targets are terrorists bent on destroying Israel.
Occasionally, the Mossad acts quasi-judicially. The most notorious was their 1960 kidnapping of Adolf Eichmann in Argentina. They covertly transported Eichmann to Israel where he was tried for war crimes in organizing and administering the Holocaust. He was found guilty, correctly and fairly, and was hanged.
Over a period of decades, the Mossad tracked down and killed the Palestinian terrorists who kidnapped and murdered 11 Israeli athletes in the 1972 Olympics. The Israelis officially maintain that this was not a matter of revenge, but deterrence. Whatever you call it, civilized people shed no tears for those particular Palestinians.
The Mossad has conducted dozens of other targeted killings over the years. They answer to no one except the Israeli Prime Minister. At least once, they made a mistake in killing someone who’d been mis-identified to them. On balance, however, the Mossad has clearly made the world a better and safer place.
This week saw a new episode of barbarism rivaling the terrorism of the Palestinians. Vladimir Putin ordered Russia’s military, one of the world’s biggest and most potent, to invade and conquer his peaceful neighbor, Ukraine.
Putin’s invasion is a war crime. In concept, he has no claim over the land he’s invading. His military conquest is illegal under international law and norms.
In methods, his invasion violates accepted treaties of war by deliberately murdering civilian men, women and children. Putin’s missiles rain down on residential buildings for the express purpose of killing some of the inhabitants and terrifying the rest. Some Russian soldiers are incognito in contravention to wartime rules. They’re dressed as civilians and driving civilian vehicles in order to penetrate and confuse Ukrainian defenders.
You may say that this is war and in war there are no rules. For example, in late WWII the Allies incinerated downtown Dresden, Germany in a firebombing that killed 25,000 Germans.
But the firebombing of Dresden was in the context of the Battle of Britain a few years earlier where the Luftwaffe attacked all-civilian targets in downtown London for months and later randomly launched V-1 and V-2 rockets into the city. It was also against the country, Germany, that started WWII and conducted it in a horrific manner, though not all the horrors were yet known at the time of Dresden.
In short, war crimes are not excused by the fact that they’re in the context of a war, especially if the war was started by the war criminal.
Which brings us back to Putin. The Mossad knows how to handle people like him. In doing so they will save thousands of lives and will deter future aggressors. Send them in.
OK, I realize that sending in the Mossad is about as realistic and practical as sending in, oh, James Bond. But wouldn’t it be great? And Putin certainly deserves it.

The usual disclaimer: I don’t condone Putin’s action. My point, however, is that the geopolitical motivations are being deliberately distorted to serve Biden’s purposes.
Putin wants talks with Zelensky, suggesting to me that having made his point, Putin would be prepared to cease and desist provided Ukraine meets Putin’s demands (no NATO membership, no American arms in Ukraine). Zelensky is amenable, but Biden is not:

Well. I have seen reports that the US offered to extract Zelensky from Ukraine, and he said he needs ammunition, not a ride. Putin wants Zelensky to go to Minsk for talks; it seems to me Zelensky would be subject to capture and torture in the Russian satellite country Belarus.
Zelensky was treated as a joke when he ran for election and won. He is now a national hero. May God preserve him and his nation.
I don’t think this situation is in Mossad’s mission. But I have thought that Putin is mismanaging this rather seriously, and his country and the world would benefit if someone would assassinate him. It would have to be a Russian; I don’t see how anyone else could get close enough.
My husband has had frightened messages from European friends. The “green” agenda has led them to be in this position, along with their failure to pay attention to their own defense forces.

I would hope Zelenskyy remembers the welcome afforded Polish President, Lech Kaczynski, his wife & senior Polish military officers. The Polish defense minister says Putin caused the fatal crash of Kaczynski’s plane which took out 96 people. They were on their way (they thought) to Russia to commemorate the WWII massacre by the USSR of 22,000 Polish officers. Putin was probably in no mood to make an apology.

I get most of my real news about this and other things from the WSJ (and that’s not just because they have published me). Their editorials are excellent. Their news reporting is slightly to the left, but only slightly as compared to other MSM. It costs a little money for a subscription, but at least you don’t have to endure stupid pop-up ads.

As I posted on another site, the time is long past for all of Russia’s bordering countries to band together and form their own alliance. They know what Putin is capable of, they know what NATO is not capable of. They should call a pox on both organizations and go their own way. That would include Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland, at least. Poland doesn’t border Russia directly, but it does border Belarus, which is a client state of Russia and is helping Putin. The new alliance could call themselves “Go F Yourselves.” Keep in mind that since they would control the pipelines from Russia to Europe, they would have some leverage over both. None of them have expansionist designs, either.
Russia has been aiding Iran, which has been threatening Israel with distraction for decades, so there is a logical reason to eliminate Putin. Also, with Zelensky being Jewish, there is another reason, to protect their own. Go for it.
Fancy that! I hadn’t realised that Zelinsky was Jewish. How admirable then that despite the threat to him and to his family, he’s chosen to stay and fight. Unlike Ashraf Ghani the former Afghan President who fled the Taliban and left his people to their fate.

I served in the Air Force in a ballistic missile wing in North Dakota. All we would need to do to get the world’s attention (both Russia and China) is to raise the DEFCON Status up one notch. I am sure the Mossad could get the Putin “sanction” done within a few days upon the USA request, had the Biden Idiots had not dissed Israel. Trump was right about NATO. Europe’s memory from WW II seems to be lost. I believe we (The USA) will need to save their ass once again in the near future. Once again History Repeats.
The position of the American Foreign Policy Establishment — that Putin is wrong — is saying that Russia does not have a right to exist.

There’s an excellent book about the Mossad: Rise and Kill First by Ronen Bergman. Quite a story. Some of their targets hre studied and tracked for years. To avoid killing innocent bystanders or the wrong target, many more mission are cancelled than are executed. ALWAYS, they need lots of inside information confirmed by more than one source. Since they’ve never attempted a killing inside Russia they likely don’t have anywhere near the intelligence infrastructure they would need. “Send In The Mossad” is a handy slogan, but a totally silly suggestion. Read the book Genn. You don’t just “send in the Mossad, even if the mission would benefit Israel. This column is just plain silly.

I’m not going to get into it with you, Richard, on whether the Epoch Times, of all things, is a more reliable news source than the WSJ, and I certainly won’t make a case one way or the other on the basis of a single news event.
I’m simply saying that I personally find the WSJ more credible and less biased, and that Kathy should make her own judgment.

Sure, by all means give the Epoch Times a look. I confess that I occassionally follow a link there myself. The WSJ has a broader focus but, on the other hand, as I mentioned, their news reporting is slightly left of center (while their opinion columns are excellent and conservative IMO, though a bit Trump-phobic).
I spent a bit of time as a PFC with an armored cavalry scout platoon patrolling the Iron Curtain in the early 80’s in Germany.
Make no mistake. There are people there, in the Ukraine, and even here in the U.S., who love authoritarian control so much , they are willing to void your basic human rights to achieve thier beliefs through government power.
They take advantage of the normal people’s wish to do what they think is right..
They will use the existing system to forward this, content that most people will not get oppose them, a little at a time.
That is what I have been afraid of. There’s no way they could do it without their support. I saw how the Canadian police went psycho on the protesters.

There are no, repeat, NO “reliable” news sources. There are only some that are less UNreliable than others, but they all have an agenda to advance. In some circumstances, such as MSNBC, CNN, NYT, Washington Post, the agenda is primary and truth/facts become secondary, if they matter at all. (When truth contradicts the preferred narrative, truth becomes irrelevant.)
Moreover, original sources are now undependable; everything is evaluated for the propaganda value before “officially” promulgated. If it supports “my side,” it is publicized; if not, it is buried. This has always been true to some extent, but of late, it appears we are all living in a world that George Smiley has created.
Way back in October 2019, candidate Joe Biden pledged that, “Putin knows that when I am president of the United States, his days of tyranny and trying to intimidate the United States and those in Eastern Europe, are over.”
But that was a long time ago, and it was election season.
