“I am not a crook,” proclaimed Richard Nixon shortly before he resigned in disgrace.
And he wasn’t. At least not in the ordinary sense. Some lowlifes hired by an overzealous Committee to Reelect the President burglarized the Democrats at the Watergate Hotel. Nixon then foolishly tried to cover it up. That amounted to the technical and manufactured “crime” of obstruction of justice. But what Nixon himself did was not burglary – the burglary was committed without Nixon’s knowledge.
Then there’s Joe Biden.
Joe apparently was on the take. He and his family – at least nine of them at last count – appear to have taken millions from America’s competitors and even enemies around the world. His creepy son Hunter was the bag man for these bribes, but what Hunter was selling was 100% Joe.
That this happened is no longer seriously disputed.
Biden said in his campaign that he “never” discussed his son’s business with him. Tapes and emails show that to be a flagrant lie. He said in his campaign that the story was Russian disinformation. That, too, was a flagrant lie, and he knew it was when he said it.
Joe’s tax returns show some $10 million in mysterious income from the shell companies the Bidens set up to receive and launder the money from the foreigners. Did he never discuss that with bag man Hunter?
Whistleblowers at the FBI say the FBI and Justice Department slow-walked their investigation while Joe ran for president, to the point that they permitted the statute of limitations to run out on some of the more serious crimes.
If only this were a different time. If only the culture and country had not fallen so far.
In 1974, Republican leaders came calling on President Nixon to tell him they planned to do the right thing for the country. They told him they would vote to impeach him. Nixon promptly resigned.
In a better country with a better Democratic Party, leaders such as Barack Obama, Charles Schumer, the Clintons, and even wretched Nancy Pelosi would come calling on Joe Biden. They would put aside party loyalties in the interest of the country.
Don’t count on that happening. It will happen only if they decide that the burden of Biden is a personal or political one. To hell with the country.

“Wretched” Nancy Pelosi? Lay off the euphemisms, Glenn. Besides, the individual that this word best fits — aside from Alejandro Mayorkas — is Merrick Garland. How does a man get himself into such a position, appearing so transparently phony, dishonest, sanctimonious, hypocritical? What can he possibly take pride in, or feel good about? What motivates his conduct — greed? (Is he getting paid off to the tune of monstrous sums?) fear? (Do they have something on him?) revenge? (For having been jiggered out of a Supreme Court sinecure?) status? (Good luck with that! He’s a lowly worm.) a quest for mediocrity? (Go figure.)
As for “100% Joe,” Oh, Lordy, how does one describe the chemical composition of THAT !?!
I’ve wondered about Merrie Garland. My take is that he’s not corrupt exactly; he’s just very lazy and inattentive and probably harbors a grudge after the GOP torpedo’d his Supreme Court nomination and so he’s not motivated to get to the bottom of things. His hard-left underlings are running the show, and he’s not really involved. But maybe I’m too kind.

May I respectfully suggest that waiting for today’s democrats to act in some noble and patriotic fashion will make waiting for Godot seem something like instantaneous by comparison. Today’s democrats care nothing for those old fashioned sentiments, but merely seek to obtain and hold power. To expect them to oust Biden for any reason other than to further consolidate their position is to expect them to act contrary to their very nature. They are evil, immoral and without scruples. But you already acknowledged this when you told us in the concluding paragraph not to expect it.
How much, do we suppose, it is worth Iran to persuade Joe to enter a new JPOA? Help with new LLCs? Swiss accounts? Will we ever know?
Glenn: At this point, does Demented Joe even KNOW he is LYING? Can he tell the difference? A sane person would have that introspective ability. Biden? Not so sure!
